If instructors identify questions that are ambiguous or have incorrect answers in quiz attempts that have already occurred it is possible to change the correct answer in a quiz question and regrade attempts.
In New quizzes, the regrading method will vary by question type, with some questions allowing corrections to the points and answer choices and others allowing corrections to the points only. If you are using Classic quizzes (not recommended), you can regrade only Multiple-Choice, Multiple-Answer, and True/False questions after supplying the corrected answer choice and/or changing the question's point value (if required).
Regrading is not available for Essay or File Upload questions in either quiz type.
Regrading New Quiz Questions
Question regrades are triggered through the SpeedGrader -- either from the course Quizzes page or from within the gradebook -- or from the Moderate page in the quiz build area. Regrading any question for a single student will regrade that question for all the students who have taken the quiz. (Instructors who need individual students to have different scores on a quiz can change their scores on questions or use Fudge points.)
Access from the gradebook main page:
Open the Grades tab, go to the SpeedGrader for the item you wish to regrade:

Access from an individual student's grades view:
Open the Grades tab and click on the individual grade for the student and the item you wish to regrade:

In the modal that opens on the right edge of the page, click on the SpeedGrader™ button for the individual student:

Access from the Quizzes page:
Open the Quizzes tab in the course left nav area then click the 3 dots then Speedgrader:

Access from the Moderate page:
Within the quiz Build page, click on Moderate, then on the attempt of a particular student:

Changing Scores or Regrading:
All the pathways shown above will open the quiz on a particular student's quiz attempt. To change the answers or points for the entire class, click on Regrade in any required question and make changes - either by changing the correct answer (if the option is available) and/or the points value (if required). To change an individual student score, adjust any question's points dropdown:

If choosing to regrade the entire class's submissions, make the points or answer changes to the question:

Then click Regrade near the bottom right:

Next select an option from the Regrade Options:

Additional Notes:
- Awarding points for only the correct answer may reduce some students' scores. For a detailed explanation of the possible effects of regrading choices, see: How do I regrade a quiz question in New Quizzes?
- If a quiz question has inadvertently been created with more than one correct answers, but only one selction has been allowed, you can select the alternative answer in SpeedGrader then select the regrade option "Award points for both current and previous answers."
- There can sometimes be a delay from an hour to 24 hours after regrading for all instances of students quiz scores to be updated, especially in large classes.

Regrade Classic Quiz Questions
Classic quiz regrade only works with specific quiz question types and only applies to students who have already taken the quiz.
Currently, Classic quiz regrade is available for Multiple Choice, True/False, and Multiple Answers question types.
Adding or removing a question does not trigger the quiz regrade feature. Additionally, changing the point value for a quiz question does not trigger a quiz regrade; the student's submitted quiz will show the updated point value, but the current grade won't change in the Gradebook. If you have edited your quiz in one of these three ways, you should moderate the quiz and let the student retake the quiz.
Important note: Updating a question for regrade changes the question in the quiz. It does not change the question in a question bank.
1. To change any Multiple Choice, Multiple Answer, or True/False question, open the quiz:

2. Click on the Questions tab:

3. Click the pencil icon to edit the question:

4. When you click to select the corrected answer, the green arrow will move, and you will be presented with the regrade options:

The options may be slightly different depending on the question type. For a detailed explanation of the possible effects of regrading choices, see: What options can I use to regrade a quiz in a course?
5. Click Update to update the question.

Grading by Question using the SpeedGrader
Instructors grading (or checking) essay questions through the speedgrader can configure their display to grade the same question for every student in a row.
1. Go to the SpeedGrader for the quiz and click on the Gear on the left for Options.

2. Toggle the Grade by Question option. You may have to switch between the new and old SpeedGrader to see the option update.
3. Save the Settings.

Grading the quiz will contain an option to choose the question itself and will allow graders to grade and proceed by student under the same question.
