eClass Maintenance Outage Wednesday December 17th 2025 9:00AM - 10:00AM

Attention eClass users,

There will be a scheduled maintenance outage for eClass and eClass External on Wednesday, December 17th, 2025 from 9:00AM - 10:00AM. This outage is required to perform a version upgrade for these services. 

eClass and eClass External will be unavailable for the duration of the maintenance window. If you have any questions about this scheduled outage, please contact us at eclass@ualberta.ca.

December 2025 DLE changes

Attention Canvas Instructors,

Several new features and changes will be taking effect starting in December 2025 across the Digital Learning Environment (DLE).

Scantron Export Improvements

TSQS has re-formatted their scantron instructor export sheets so that they can be more easily uploaded into Canvas. The former process involved rebuilding the spreadsheet but the basic TSQS export files (with or without the comments selected) can now be directly imported into course gradebooks. Exports

RESOLVED: STACK-Canvas Student Grades Issue October 29th 2025

RESOLVED November 7th, 3PM: After thorough testing, the vendor triggered the data fix at 2PM this afternoon. We have validated that the Canvas grades for student's STACK assignments have been restored to their previous values.

UPDATE November 6th, 6PM: We had a productive meeting with the vendor today and together identified the source of some false-positive data in the query. We will complete one more round of testing tomorrow and should be able to restore all changed grades to their

UPDATE: The STACK outage has been completed and the site is now running normally.

Attention Canvas STACK users,

The U of A’s Canvas-integrated STACK service will undergo a required version upgrade on Thursday November 13th 2025 from 6:00AM - 10:00AM. This upgrade will resolve the problem where instructors are not able to duplicate their quizzes.

The STACK service will be unavailable during this window. Any students accessing linked assignments will see an alert that the site is

RESOLVED: Canvas Degraded Performance October 20th, 2025

RESOLUTION: The vendor announced that all services were restored and confirmed functional at 7PM.

Attention Canvas users,

Instructure is currently reporting degraded performance for Canvas due to ongoing issues with their underlying hosting provider AWS. Some users may encounter slow page response times, documents failing to display, or images failing to load.

The vendors are working to resolve the issue as quickly as possible.

UPDATED: Canvas-STACK Integration Performance Issues

UPDATE Sept 23, 1:00PM: The vendor identified an infrastructure bottleneck last night and made further changes to the environment to correct the issue. The service has not experienced continued degradation so far today and the vendor is continuing to monitor for further problems.

UPDATE Sept 22, 2:00PM: Some users have continued to encounter problems over the weekend. The vendor is still actively working on this problem and exploring a number of different causes and solutions. Please be patient
