UPDATE Sept 23, 1:00PM: The vendor identified an infrastructure bottleneck last night and made further changes to the environment to correct the issue. The service has not experienced continued degradation so far today and the vendor is continuing to monitor for further problems.

UPDATE Sept 22, 2:00PM: Some users have continued to encounter problems over the weekend. The vendor is still actively working on this problem and exploring a number of different causes and solutions. Please be patient

Attention Canvas Instructors,

As we launch the first term delivered fully on Canvas, we have a number of important updates across the Digital Learning Environment for instructors to be aware of.

A number of important new features are now available in Canvas:

• Differentiation Tags: Instructors can now group their students into functional units that can be used to filter the gradebook, student lists, and provide a mechanism to provide different due dates

Attention ExamLock Users,

Please be advised that the ExamLock service will be decommissioned on December 31st, 2025.

With the transition to Canvas, the UofA has selected Respondus Lockdown Browser and Monitor as our new remote exam security and monitoring application to replace ExamLock. Instructors using Canvas will need to switch to this new application when delivering remote exams. 

Since eClass has entered a read-only state, there should be no active exams being delivered on eClass

UPDATE: This outage has been rescheduled to Saturday, August 23rd from 2:00AM - 3:00AM.


Attention eClass users,

There will be a brief maintenance outage for eClass on Thursday, August 21st 2025 from 10:00PM - 11:00PM (1 hour). This outage is required to apply infrastructure changes to eClass.

Attention ePoll Users,

Please be advised that the ePoll service will be decommissioned on December 31st, 2025.

The UofA has selected Wooclap as our new polling and student response system to replace ePoll. All ePoll users are encouraged to transition to this new platform. Unfortunately, there is no mechanism to migrate existing questions from ePoll into Wooclap but the new service does have the ability to automatically generate questions from a number of sources including the ability to
