Problem with eClass Course Start Dates and Visibility

Attention eClass Instructors,

An unexpected system issue has caused problems with the visibility of some eClass Winter 2015 courses. This issue prevented a number of courses scheduled to open Thursday January 1st and Friday January 2nd from correctly opening and closed some courses that had have been manually opened early by instructors.

We have repaired any of these visibility issues that we could but we could not account for any manual changes that were made to course visibility

eClass Outage Friday January 2, 2015 12:00AM - 9:00AM

Attention eClass users,

Please be aware that there is a scheduled maintenance outage for eClass on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 from 12:00AM to 9:00AM. This outage is required to upgrade eClass to the latest minor version of moodle (2.6.6) and release a number of locally developed fixes and improvements.

The minor version upgrade contains a number of important security fixes to the system as functional improvements. For those interested, detailed release notes of all the changes are available

An emergency outage is required to apply security patches to the Windows servers hosting eClassLive (Adobe Connect). The patches will be applied by the IST Hosting team starting at 11:00PM Friday November 14th and should be complete by 3:00AM Saturday November 15th.

eClassLive (connect.srv.ualberta.ca) will be unavailable during this time and clicking any links to eClassLive activities within eClass (Moodle) will return an error during the outage window.

eClass Outage Notification for Saturday November 15th, 2014 6:00AM - 9:00AM

Attention eClass users,

Please be aware that there is a scheduled maintenance outage on Saturday, November 15th, 2014 from 6:00AM to 9:00AM. This outage is required to repair a number of issues in eClass.

Also during this outage, as a part of the central consolidation of the eClass support team into IST, we will be making a number of changes to our support portal and processes. Our existing web pages will all be redirected to up-to-date content within our knowledge base and the main email

Problems with eClass Calendar and DST

Attention eClass users,

eClass is currently experiencing an issue with calendar events not respecting the shift to daylight savings time. The issue only affects manually-created, recurring calendar events that were created prior to the shift off of DST on November 2, 2014, and that occur in the month of November. Any instances of the same recurring event that are outside November are unaffected and events associated with other eClass activities are not affected.

UPDATED: Delayed eClassLive Outage Saturday September 27th, 2014

Attention eClass users,

 

Update at 11:15 AM, September 27: eClassLive (Adobe Connect) upgrade is completed. All eClassLive features should be restored at this time.

 

Update at 9:00 AM, September 27: The maintenance outage has been extended as the upgrade to eClassLive (Adobe Connect) is not yet complete. Users can access eClass without any problems but will not be able to access any eClassLive sessions or recordings at this time. IST staff are working to complete the upgrade.
