Fall 2014 eClass Announcements:

Welcome back everyone! You will notice that eClass was upgraded and has a new theme for Fall 2014. For a quick overview of the functional changes, please see the following videos.

Attention eClass Users,

UPDATE: The eClass mail notification system is fuinctioning normally again.

The eClass system is currently experiencing an issue with sending email notifications. This issue is affecting all notifications that would normally be sent from eClass to user’s email addresses including posts to subscribed forums, course Announcements, and assignment feedback alerts.

CTL and the eClass hosting team have restarted the mail service and some users have begun receiving emails.

Attention eClass Users,

As part of IT consolidation on our campuses, effective immediately the CTL technical staff that support eClass Moodle (the U of A central Learning Management System) have changed their reporting to IST.

In the immediate, please continue to contact the eClass team using the same phone number (492-9372) and email address (ctl@ualberta.ca) as you have in the past. For eClass drop-in services, the eClass team will be located in 3-104 Education North.

Please be aware that there is a scheduled maintenance outage on Saturday, July 26th, 2014 from 3:00AM to 10:00AM. This outage is required for our eClass hosting provider to update the eClass infrastructure. The system may be unavailable during this time so please do not schedule any teaching or learning activities.

Attention eClass users,

CTL is currently investigating all potential system or process changes that may help to improve long-term system performance, scalability and sustainability in eClass. Outside of infrastructure improvements (which are handled by our hosting provider), the primary strategy that CTL can employ to improve system performance is to reduce the size of the eClass database. To that end, we are now planning to move forward with the course archiving process in eClass.
