UPDATE: Problems with eClass Quizzes
Posted by Dave Laurie on 26 March 2014 04:03 PM

Attention eClass Instructors,

We are pleased to report that the maintenance outage on Saturday March 22nd, 2014 has addressed the recent page load delays and has improved overall system performance in eClass. While we are still monitoring the system closely, early statistics have shown a return to a normal level of load and 3 large quizzes taken Monday March 24th, 2014 were completed without incident.

Even so, CTL wants to work with any instructors who are planning to run any large exams (especially finals) on eClass. For the long term, we will continue to work with our hosting provider to ensure reliable and robust quiz options for instructors, but as a temporary short term measure CTL will support instructors with their final exams in any way we can.

If you are intending to run an exam this term where more than 100 students will need to log in to the quiz at the same time, please contact CTL at ctl@ualberta.ca.

If your quizzes on eClass are asynchronous, ie. students complete them at their own time during a set period, this does not apply to you.

Once again, we thank you for your patience. If you have any questions about this issue, please email ctl@ualberta.ca.

Regards,
CTL Technology Services
