Restoring Deleted Content to Your Course

Instructors who inadvertently delete resources or activities from their eClass course page can now restore them using the new recycle bin if they realize the content deletion within 7 days.

To restore content to your course:

  1. Click on More from the top menu bar, then select Recycle bin.

  2. The recycle bin only appears in the course settings once an activity or resource has been deleted from the course main page. These items appear in the recycle bin for 7 days from the time they were deleted after which they are removed permanently. Any item can be restored from the recycle bin by clicking the corresponding Restore icon:

Important: While the activities are restored from the Recycle Bin, user data from activities (quiz responses, assignment submissions, etc.) are lost. Content deleted during the removal of Topic headings, and Grade item deletions are not recoverable.

New in June 2022, assignments and quizzes containing student attempts can now be restored through the recycle bin.

Point-in-Time Recoveries: It may be possible for the eClass Support team to recover such data if it is well within 30 days of deletion. This recovery process involves an intensive and full restoration of the eClass system to a backup server to a particular point in time, where recovery efforts may then begin. Processing times may range typically from a few days to a couple weeks depending on the recovery queue as current resources only allow for a single recovery attempt at a time. i.e. if there are more instructors with similar requests, turnover may take longer.
