With the Fall 2021 final exam period about to start, we would like to remind instructors to review the available options for delivering exams remotely and to get in touch with eClass support as soon as possible if they require any assistance.

Of particular note, instructors should be aware of the following:

• We have constructed new documentation for handling audio accommodation exams. In addition, instructors using Assign2 can now add individual exam time

Attention ePortfolio (Mahara) Users,

The Mahara ePortfolio service will be undergoing a required emergency upgrade on Wednesday December 8th 2021 from 9:00AM - 11:00AM. 

This upgrade will also add some new functionality for exporting ePortfolios in advance of the system deprecation in July 2022 and brings in a slightly different mechanism for editing pages.

With the release of the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform this fall, instructors now have access to a new media streaming platform within eClass. We would like to invite all instructors who are interested in learning more about YuJa to register for the upcoming YuJa 101: Intro to the Media Streaming Service for Instructors on November 17th, 2021.

We are pleased to announce that the YuJa Enterprise Video Platform is now available in eClass at the UofA for media streaming and lecture capture. This platform is a full-featured 3rd party media capture and streaming service that allows instructors to record and stream videos in courses.

Welcome back! We are looking forward to an exciting term that promises a wide variety of course delivery and assessment options across the digital learning environment at the University of Alberta. Here are some important reminders for instructors as we return to a range of in-person, online, blended, and hyflex classes:

• The eClass upgrade from June 2021 introduced a variety of new features.
• A few configuration changes have been made to Zoom.
• A new tool called ExamVis

Attention Zoom users,

For the start of the Fall 2021 term, we have released some configuration changes to Zoom at the University of Alberta. Starting Saturday August 21st, 2021 the following changes have been enabled in Zoom: 

• Users will now be able to enter and share pronouns in Zoom user profiles.
• Instructors can now turn on Closed Captions directly within meetings by default.

As always, we encourage instructors to review our Zoom security recommendations before the start of term.
