Attention eClass users,

Greetings to staff, faculty, and students returning to campus in September 2022! A number of changes have occurred across the digital learning environment over the summer that users should be aware of: 

• eClass went through an upgrade that introduced a variety of new features, notably an improvement to the display of activity completion information on course pages.
• Google Meet has introduced premium features for use by instructors on campus.
• Performance improvements

Attention eClass users,

The eClass support portal will be offline briefly for required maintenance on Thursday August 25th between 10:00PM and 11:00PM. 

Users will be unable to access help articles in the knowledge base during this time. Please note that access to eClass itself will not be affected by this outage.

UPDATE: eClass is now available - the maintenance outage was completed and the site was released at 3:30AM.

This is an alert that there will be a scheduled maintenance outage for eClass on Saturday August 20th, 2022 from 12:00AM - 3:00AM (3 hours). This outage is required to perform a minor version update and maintenance to eClass.

Attention Zoom Users,

Zoom has announced that they will be retiring significantly older client versions of their software on August 6th, 2022. 

After this change takes effect, users will not be able to log in or join meetings from client versions below 5.3.0 (originally released in September 2020). 

We recommend that all UofA Zoom users download and update to the latest version of Zoom client software to take advantage of all our latest security and functionality features.

Attention Zoom users,

The Zoom Live Training Team has scheduled a special series for education organizations on August 2nd and August 3rd, 2022. This three-part event series provides training on how to set up your classroom and engage your students on Zoom. Live training sessions are interactive, with opportunities for live Q&A with Zoom Trainers, and will inform you on best practices for using Zoom in an educational setting and as an educational tool.

eClass requires regularly scheduled outages to perform necessary updates and maintenance on specific dates designed to minimize the impact to the majority of users.

For the coming year, full 24-hour maintenance windows for eClass are scheduled for the following dates:

• August 20th, 2022
• January 2nd, 2023
• May 6th 2023
• June 24th, 2023 - Major Upgrade

Each outage will run from 12:00 AM to 11:59 PM unless otherwise posted. eClass will be unavailable for the duration of each
