Upcoming eClass Maintenance Schedule

Attention eClass Users,

As per our latest update on recent eClass outages, there will be an additional series of overnight maintenance windows for eClass over the next few days to prepare eClass for the start of Winter term. These outages will be held in the following windows:

  • Friday Dec. 31st 12:00AM (Midnight) - 6:00AM
  • Saturday Jan. 1st 12:00AM (Midnight) - 6:00AM
  • Sunday Jan. 2nd 12:00AM (Midnight) - 6:00AM
  • Monday Jan. 3rd 12:00AM (Midnight) - 6:00AM

Update on eClass Outages - Dec. 30th 2021

Good afternoon everyone,

Since the end of Fall term, the IST infrastructure and eClass teams along with Amazon Web Services and external consultants have been working diligently to diagnose the issues experienced during the final exam period. However, a definitive root cause has not been identified. This suggests multiple issues added up to cause the outages. Over the last several days, work has concentrated on detailed reviews of all infrastructure configuration to check for any errors,

UPDATE: Maintenance is complete and access to eClass has been restored.

Attention eClass users,

There will be a brief outage this morning December 30th, 2021 from 9:30PM - 10:30AM. This outage is required to run performance tests on the site after last night's database cleanup.

eClass will be unavailable during this maintenance but the testing process may not take up the full window.

UPDATED: eClass Holiday Break Maintenance Notification Change

Attention eClass Users,

UPDATE: The maintenance outage today (Dec. 28th) has been completed early and access to eClass was restored at 4:35PM.

As a result of today's testing, eClass will require a full database vacuum. This will be performed from Wednesday Dec. 29th 3:00PM - Thursday Dec. 30 8:00AM (17 hours). eClass will be unavailable through this time range so users should attempt to access outside this window. We apologize for these continued interruptions.

Update on eClass Outages

To all eClass users,

Over the past two weeks we have had untimely and impactful interruptions in eClass and some of the related tools that eClass provides. The interruptions on December 7th and 15th were caused by outages in Amazon Web Services (East and West Zones) ; those interruptions were outside of our control. However, the outages on the 20th, 21st and 22nd were within our scope.
