A new Portfolio feature is coming to Canvas in January 2026. This new tool supports both instructor-assigned portfolios and student-led showcases, giving educators and learners the flexibility to meet a wide range of needs. Instructors and program leads facilitate single- or multi-course assessments, align evidence to competencies, and integrate directly with familiar grading tools like SpeedGrader. This creates a seamless experience for instructors and students, while reducing administrative overhead. This new offering by Canvas is still seeing active development work. This service is similar to the former Mahara integration for eClass and will be offered going forward as an alternative to the other option available at the U of A, creating ePortfolios in Google Sites.
