Attention eClass Users,

As the U of A community continues our transition to Canvas, users will begin seeing new options and processes to get started in our new LMS. The first of these major changes has arrived with the ability to request Canvas Fall 2024 credit courses in the Course Creation system.

Requesting on Canvas at this time is entirely voluntary so instructors should consult with their Faculty or Department and review the different transition project phases to determine the right time to start making the switch to Canvas.

Instructors who have opted to participate as early adopters in Canvas can now follow the familiar course creation processes used for eClass. Features of this system include:

• The ability to select specific student enrollment sections from Bear Tracks and combine multiple sections if needed.
• The option to enroll additional instructors or TAs.
• The option to control student access to the course by setting the student access date.
• The ability to copy content directly from any course content that has already been staged in a Canvas Sandbox.

We recommend that instructors who are delivering Fall 2024 courses in Canvas review the key changes in moving from eClass to Canvas and take advantage of the full list of U of A specific Canvas documentation. We have also outlined all the options available for Getting Support with Canvas.
