Please be aware that there is an emergency outage scheduled for the eClassLive service (Adobe Connect) Saturday January 24th, 2015 from 12:00 AM to 12:15 AM (tonight). This outage is required to increase the system performance to accommodate large meeting rooms.

eClassLive activity module links within eClass will not be operational through this period so please do not schedule any teaching or learning activities.

The January 15th, 2015 update of the Respondus quiz authoring tool is no longer correctly synching with eClass. Users of this tool are recommended to not update at this time.

IST eClass support is investigating the issue and until a resolution is reached, the only method of publishing and retrieving quizzes from Respondus to eClass is to use an older version.

Attention eClass Users,

Please be aware that there is a scheduled maintenance outage for the ePortfolio service (Mahara) on Monday January 19th, 2015 from 10:00 to 11:30PM. This outage is required to install minor system updates to the Mahara server.

The ePortfolio link from eClass will not be operational through this period so please do not schedule any teaching or learning activities.

This outage will not affect basic access to eClass at all.

Attention eClass users,

Please be aware that effective January 26th 2015, the eClass site-wide blogging tool will be disabled. The decision to disable this tool has been made by the eClass Change Advisory Board due to concerns that blog posts made for specific course contexts are available to the broader U of A community.

The removal of this feature will only affect users who have posted through their Profile blogging tool or the ‘Add an entry about this course’ link in the Blog Menu block

Attention eClass Instructors,

An unexpected system issue has caused problems with the visibility of some eClass Winter 2015 courses. This issue prevented a number of courses scheduled to open Thursday January 1st and Friday January 2nd from correctly opening and closed some courses that had have been manually opened early by instructors.

We have repaired any of these visibility issues that we could but we could not account for any manual changes that were made to course visibility

Please be aware that there is a scheduled maintenance outage for eClass on Friday, January 2nd, 2015 from 12:00AM to 9:00AM. This outage is required to upgrade eClass to the latest minor version of moodle (2.6.6) and release a number of locally developed fixes and improvements.

The minor version upgrade contains a number of important security fixes to the system as functional improvements. For those interested, detailed release notes of all the changes are available
