Follow these steps when you are first attempting to access eClass:

Verify Internet Browser Compatibility

Validate your system specs and browser setup to ensure you can use eClass effectively.

Log into eClass

On the U of A home page, click the 3-dot menu on the upper-right. Then click eClass located under the Quick Links list. Alternatively, you can go directly to https://eclass.srv.ualberta.ca/portal.

Select course type to access

On the eClass Portal, you can choose where to login: either selecting 'University of Alberta Credit Courses' for courses from Bear Tracks, including the Faculty of Extension and Continuing Education courses; or External courses for community collaboration courses (your access instructions will specify if External courses should be selected - see here for more information.) You can check your browser for compatibility from the link on the right side as well as links to access the eClass knowledge portal.

Log in with your CCID

Next, enter your CCID (Campus Computing ID) and password in the campus SSO portal. Make sure that your CCID is the alphanumeric ID (maximum of 8 characters) derived from your name, entered using only lowercase letters. Do not use your email address or include '@ualberta.ca'.

Your course Dashboard

Once you have logged in, you will arrive at your course Dashboard.

The Simple tab shows courses you currently have access to. The Upcoming tab allows students to see courses in which they are enrolled, and when the course will be available.

*Note: If you do not have a CCID or require any changes to your UAlberta account and other central services such as Bear Tracks or Gmail, please contact IST Helpdesk at 780-492-8000 or through the U of A Service Portal available on the Staff Service Centre and the Student Service Centre webpages. You can also visit their website at http://ist.ualberta.ca/.
